The Zonta Club of Greater Sandusky will be providing the 2021 Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award in the amount of $250.00 for a female aged 16-19 on March 1, 2021. Zonta encourages young women to pursue careers or to seek leadership positions in public policy making, government and volunteer organizations and to further their education with these aims in view. Every year, one award to one student who has completed the application and is studying at a secondary school, college or university from the school districts within our area is eligible.
The goal of the YWPA award program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing the student’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
The Zonta Club of Greater Sandusky will be choosing the recipient of the Club Award. The recipient of the Club YWPA Award will then be eligible for a District 5 YWPA Award of $1,500.00 with District recipients then eligible for ten Zonta International YWPA Awards of $5,000.00 each. Established in 1990, Zonta has given 971 YWPA awards totaling more than $1,109,250.00 to 819 young women from 58 countries.
Completed applications should be sent to the Zonta Club of Greater Sandusky, ATTN: YWPA Award Committee, P.O. Box 1222, Sandusky, OH 44871-1222 and must be postmarked no later than February 15, 2021. Zonta Club of Greater Sandusky has served Erie County and surrounding areas for 58 years with Zonta International celebrating 100 years of service. Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
