Investing in Ohio Communities
Director Mihalik will detail initiatives in Governor Mike DeWine’s budget that show our commitment to investing in Ohio communities. Director Mihalik is the former mayor of Findlay, and she brings a local perspective to economic development. She will talk about the resources available to small businesses through the Development Services Agency, including access to business consulting services, help in entering international markets, assistance in landing government contracts, advice on increasing manufacturing productivity and much more.

More about our speaker:
Lydia Mihalik was the 55th Mayor of the City of Findlay, Ohio, taking office on January 1, 2012. She is the first woman to hold the city’s top post.
Mihalik gave special attention to issues of flood mitigation, job creation, and improving the way that the city delivers services to their residents. She has been a strong proponent of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and workforce development, which is led in the city by a separate nonprofit called, Raise the Bar.
Mihalik is a 2010 graduate of the Jo Ann Davidson Leadership Institute and a 2010 graduate of the Government Leadership Academy. She serves on the Hancock County Red Cross Board of Directors as well as Board of Directors for The Partnership for Excellence.
She is currently a board member for the Ohio Mayors Alliance, a collaboration of Ohio’s 20 largest cities, and has served on the Advisory Board for the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) and appointed Chair of the USCM Standing Committee on Children, Health and Human Services. Since 2018, she has served as Vice Chair of the USCM Women Mayors Leadership Alliance.
Prior to her election as Mayor, Mihalik was the Grant Administrator for the Hancock Regional Planning Commission where she was responsible for generating millions of dollars in grant revenue for local governments in the region.
