Civista Bank Named One of 2021’s Best Banks to Work For

Civista Bank has been named one of the Best Banks to Work For in 2021. This is the ninth consecutive year Civista Bank has been recognized by American Banker for this award.
“Much of this award is based on employee feedback, which makes it all the more special to our organization,” said Dennis Shaffer, Civista Bank President and CEO. “Employee satisfaction, engagement, and a sense of belonging enables our team to better serve our customers and our community. The American Banker surveyed CEOs of the 2021 Best Bank to Work For on several industry hot topics, including attracting new talent and diversity initiatives. According to Shaffer, Civista learned through the pandemic how mobile, yet effective, its teams can be. “This mobility has enabled us to broaden our regional talent search and attract a more diverse group of candidates,” Shaffer explained. “Beyond recruitment, our company is advancing the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in all we do. Our DEI Council recently celebrated its first year anniversary and is developing an employee resource group for Woman in Business. Other actionable items have included relaxing our dress code to business casual and embracing tasteful expressions of self, such as hair coloring and tattoos,” said Shaffer.
The Best Banks to Work For program, which was initiated in 2013 by American Banker and Best Companies Group, identifies, recognizes and honors U.S. banks for outstanding employee satisfaction. Full results of this year’s program are available at American Banker and in the November issue of American Banker Magazine.
Determining the Best Banks to Work For involves a two-step process. The first step involves an evaluation of participating companies’ workplace policies, practices, and demographics. In the second step, employee surveys are conducted to directly assess the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. The combined scores determine the top banks and the final ranking.
