Name: Greater Sandusky Partnership 2023 Spring Symposium
Date: May 5, 2023
Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT
Event Description:

In the fall of 2022, the Greater Sandusky Partnership (GSP) launched a series of educational and action-oriented symposiums to drive growth in our region: our population, our workforce, our housing stock, and our quality of life. We are committed to doing at least two of these sessions every year. This Spring’s symposium will be devoted to appreciating, exploiting and growing the opportunities that Career Tech education can bring to our region’s future growth. We are fortunate to already have the building blocks in tremendous institutions like EHOVE and Vanguard-Sentinel which cover our whole region. But with the State of Ohio’s growing appetite to potentially invest more in Career Tech and the business community’s deeper engagement in this sector, we can address many critical needs.
We can meet more supply and demand labor curves in certain industries and keep more of our young professionals right here in the region. That drives our local economy and school systems while also increasing demand for a growing housing supply. All of these metrics will be key to addressing our decades long decline in population. We will also demonstrate how a new entity, Destination Sandusky, can help market our greater interest in Career Tech to the Great Lakes as a whole.
Teen Leadership Corps, TLC will also be presenting and is a not-for-profit organization that serves local schools by providing schools a class and curriculum that empowers students to Lead, Serve, and Inspire the World. TLC aims to serve as a complement to the hard skills taught in high schools and career tech schools by growing students’ soft skills: communication, problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, work ethic, and servant-based leadership.

Our Keynote Speakers and Panelists Include:

  • Duff Milkie, Chair of Greater Sandusky Partnership
  • Greg Edinger, Superintendent of Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Centers
  • Chris McCully, Superintendent of EHOVE Career Center
  • Bill Reineke, Ohio State Senator
