Event Description:
FREE MOVIE with the purchase of a Goodie Bag! Originally released in 1979, “The Muppet Movie” was the first of several live-action movies to star the late Jim Henson’s loveable plush creatures taking a break from their popular syndicated television show simply titled “The Muppet Show.” The movie received two Academy Award nominations for its musical score written by Paul Williams and collaborator Kenneth Ascher, including for the hit song “Rainbow Connection” performed by Kermit the Frog. In “The Muppet Movie,” after a fateful meeting with a big-time talent agent, Kermit heads to Hollywood dreaming of showbiz. Along the way, Fozzie Bear, the Great Gonzo, and the dazzling Miss Piggy join him in hopes of becoming film stars, too. But, all bets are off when Kermit falls into the clutches of Doc Hopper, a fast-food mogul seeking to promote his French-fried frog-leg franchise. “Sing Along with The Muppet Movie” was created by Heather Henson, Jim Henson’s daughter, and her production company, IBEX Puppetry. “Sing alongs allow me to connect with the work of my father. I can work with my Dad’s material. I can put a new spin on it, but it’s still his stuff, intact. And it gives me an opportunity to watch them and over again,” said Henson in a statement. The Sing Along with The Muppet Movie is full of interactive surprises like bubbles, streamers, kites, confetti pops, and characters coming right out of the screen into the audience. Children and adults alike are urged to yell out famous lines, blow bubbles, dance in the aisles, and of course, sing along with the movie. The greatest part of the experience is that the audience becomes more a part of the film and all that happens in it. We try to get them to interact with the movie by giving them a goodie bag in the pre-show, which is filled with little items to use at different times in the movie. Kids don’t have to sit still, they can dance and sing and have fun with us, unlike in most theater settings where they have to just sit and watch. This is an opportunity for them to be free in the theater.
